First, I want to take the time to thank the parents, staff, community and children for supporting the Andrews Elementary School community. We began the year focused on academic growth and preparing our students for their future accomplishments. I can highlight for everyone that reading became the foundation to future academic achievement. The teachers attended many hours of professional learning to support teaching reading in the classroom. In turn, this training has had a positive impact on academic achievement in all academic areas.
We are now closing the year in a very different way than in years past. We have all come into the technology requirements of this century with many bumps along the way, but we still did it. We experienced a universal pandemic along with a global quarantine to protect others and ourselves from illness. There is always a “silver lining” and I truly believe we are stronger and more skilled to teach our children the skills they will need for the future. We missed seeing them each day in person and we all did the best we could, given the situation this past semester.
We look forward to school starting August 18, 2020 on time. It may look different from the past, but we will be ready. Remember to STAY Safe, STAY Home and STAY Healthy!
With deep respect for our Andrews community,
Diana Vallejo
Interim Principal
